Friends, relatives honor Swanteks on anniversary

CAMPBELL — St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church was the setting Aug. 22, 1959, for the wedding of George R. Swantek and Martha Jean Colbert.

The 50th anniversary of that event was celebrated from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 29. at Michael Church, where they are members.

Andrew Swantek, who served as their best man, was among the relatives and friends who attended the festivity.

The couple’s family includes three children and their spouses, Danny and Michele Swantek and David and Denise Swantek, all of Boardman, and Lori Swantek of Campbell; and a grandson, Matthew Swantek.

Mr. Swantek served in ordnance supply with the U.S. Army from 1959-1961. He was employed as bindery foreman at United Printing Co., and retired in 1999 from Youngstown Lithographing Co.

Mrs. Swantek retired from the Campbell School System in 2007.
