Dinner celebration marks 55th year of Tullys’ marriage

NEWTON FALLS — The Rev. Walton And Marjorie Tully celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary during a leisurely dinner on Aug. 19 at the Olive Garden Restaurant in Niles.

The Rev. Mr. Tully and the former Marjorie Sellick were married on Aug. 20, 1954, in the Glenside Methodist Church, in a suburb of Philadelphia.

The Tullys have three children: Pastor Bruce (Lisa) Tully of Ephrata, Pa.; Sheryl (Jerry ) Krocek of Berea; and Linda Tully of Cleveland. They have five grandchildren rounding out the family.

Mr. Tully served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from Dec. 7, 1948, until being called into active duty in September 1950. He served in Korea from September 1951 through July 1952. In 1960, the Tullys moved to Ohio, where he worked in the insurance industry. In 1964 he entered the ministry of the United Methodist Church on a part-time basis and continued in insurance until July 1973, when he entered the ministry full time. After five moves they retired in Newton Falls, where they live now. Tully is a reserve officer and a chaplain with Newton Falls Police Department.

Mrs. Tully, a homemaker since 1957, has been a helpmate in the ministry.
