Patrol: Off-duty trooper in Ohio ticketed
COLUMBUS (AP) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol says an off-duty Ohio trooper was caught speeding 100 mph on a motorcycle.
Authorities say 53-year-old Trooper David Mills was clocked going 97 mph in a 60 mph zone Sunday on U.S. Route 33 east of Columbus. Patrol spokesman Tony Bradshaw says Trooper Christopher Davis pulled Mills over, ticketing him later in the day after speaking with a supervisor.
The matter is being investigated internally.
Earlier this week, an officer was notified that he was fired from the Gahanna department in suburban Columbus for off-duty speeding on his motorcycle at nearly 150 mph June 28.
An off-duty state trooper who was motorcycling with him received a five-day unpaid suspension and reassignment. Both were stopped by a trooper who did not issue the tickets the day of the stop.
