Lordstown adds overtime
LORDSTOWN — A United Autoworkers Web site says the General Motors Lordstown Complex has added additional overtime Fridays to its four-day workweek.
According to UAW Local 1112’s Web, production has been scheduled for Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25, and that one hour of overtime would be added to the regular 10-hour days beginning Monday.
GM announced recently that a second shift of 1,000 hourly workers and 50 salaried employees would be called back to work beginning Oct. 5 to build up the stock of Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s that was depleted during the federal “Cash for Clunkers” program, and to begin building the new Chevrolet Cruze.
Forge starts new Web site
GROVE CITY, Pa. — Wendell August Forge has launched a new Web site, announced Will Knecht, company president, who coordinated the project.
“Each year our Web site generates sales of our products — handcrafted metal giftware and commemoratives — around the country. By combining an enhanced user experience with the latest search-engine optimization technology, our goal is to double the amount of sales while serving our clients all around the world,” Knecht said.
“We are excited to share our story as an American manufacturer of giftware with an entirely new customer base. Our new site offers the most dramatic user interface and astonishing photography that displays our true craftsmanship of Wendell August Forge,” he said.
Open house at OTN
NILES — OTN Development is having an open house today through Sunday at a new training facility built to sharpen the skills of ballplayers of all ages. The public is invited to tour the facility at the Eastwood Mall Complex in the dome adjacent to the Eastwood Expo Center, which was opened in January 2009. Now all phases of its high-tech facility are fully operational.
The open house is from 2 to 9 p.m. today, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, and softball players are invited to try out the agility course, test their throwing speed in the radar booth and receive a free computer motion analysis. There will be giveaways of balls, bats, gloves and other equipment, and discounts are available for future lessons and speed and strength analysis, said founder Jim Devine. OTN Development (formerly known as Swinglab) has been training players ages 6 to adult since 2002 at its original location in Warren.
