L.U.N.A. scholarship recipients named


YOUNGSTOWN — The 2009 L.U.N.A. scholarship recipients are Angela Lewis, Georgetown University, a healthcare management and policy major; Bryan Chaidez, Youngstown State University, economics major; and Alma G. Ciriello, YSU, a Spanish major.

The L.U.N.A. board of directors also nominated Mary Isa Garayua as the recipient for La Estrella de LUNA award for 37 years of dedicated service. The category recognizes a Latina who exemplifies generosity and dedication in the Hispanic community as well as community service in the tri-county area.

The scholarship and award recipients will be recognized at the 6th Annual L.U.N.A. Scholarship Fundraiser, from 6-10 p.m. Sept 11 at Byzantine Center at the Grove, 3801 Shady Run Road, Youngstown. The theme is Celebrando Mujeres Latinas (celebrating Latin women.)

Tickets are $40 per person and can be picked up at the L.U.N.A. office, 35 S. Champion St., in the MyTown Business Development Center, or by calling (330) 259-0323. The cost for high school/college students accompanied by an adult is $20.
