Flight 93 victim’s relatives plan motorcycle ride
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Relatives of a victim aboard Flight 93, which crashed in southwestern Pennsylvania during the Sept. 11 attacks, are organizing a motorcycle ride to honor the victims and raise money a national memorial.
Ken and Dale Nacke, whose brother Louis “Joey” Nacke II died, will retrace the flight’s intended path from Newark, N.J., to San Francisco, on Sept. 3. Nacke’s cousins, David and Patrick White, will also ride. Patrick White is vice president of Families of Flight 93.
Shanksville, near where the plane crashed and where the memorial will be, is among their stops. The $58 million, 2,200-acre memorial is expected to open on the attacks’ 10th anniversary.
The bikers will be carrying a section of chain link fence tagged with mementos similar to the temporary memorial at the crash site.
