Rapper Santana accused of threatening girlfriend

TEANECK, N.J. — Rapper Juelz Santana is accused of threatening his girlfriend with a knife in his New Jersey home.

Teaneck police charged Santana, whose real name is LaRon James, with making terroristic threats and possessing a weapon. He’s free on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Municipal Court on Sept. 9.

Capt. Dean Kazinci says Santana’s girlfriend told police a verbal dispute became physical Tuesday.

Kazinci says the rapper told officers the woman was the aggressor and she had the knife.

Police say the girlfriend, whose name was not released, had minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.

Santana records for Def Jam Recordings. His song “There it Go” was a top-ten single in 2005.

Jerry Lee Lewis to release new CD

LOS ANGELES — Jerry Lee Lewis is releasing his first country CD since the 1970s later this year, which will feature several tracks written by Kris Kristofferson.

The first single, “Mean Old Man,” is now available for download. Kristofferson and Lewis recorded the song for the forthcoming full-length album.

It marks the first new music from Lewis since the duets album “Last Man Standing” in 2006.

Lewis will tour Brazil, Las Vegas and Europe this fall to promote his new songs and his classic hits such as “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” and “Great Balls of Fire.” He turns 75 on Sept. 29.

Beyonc named ’Woman of the Year’

NEW YORK — The year’s not even over, but Billboard already knows who its woman of the year is — Beyonc .

The superstar will be honored by the industry publication at its annual Women in Music event.

Past “Woman of the Year” honorees were Ciara and Reba McEntire. Beyonc will be on hand to accept her award at the Oct. 2 event in New York City.

It’s been yet another big year for the entertainer. She had the smash hit “Single Ladies,” sang at President Barrack Obama’s inauguration, had a No. 1 movie with “Obsessed” and embarked on an arena tour.

Actor Eddie Cibrian files for divorce from wife

LOS ANGELES — Eddie Cibrian is divorcing his wife of nearly eight years.

Court records show the 36-year-old actor, who has appeared on TV shows such as “Ugly Betty” and “The Starter Wife,” filed for divorce Monday. The court papers were filed in Los Angeles.

Cibrian and his wife, Brandi, were married in 2001. They have two sons, age 6 and 2.

The divorce petition cites “irreconcilable differences.”

Tabloid reports have linked Cibrian with LeAnn Rimes, his co-star in the TV movie “Northern Lights.”

The filing doesn’t indicate whether Brandi Cibrian has an attorney, and a phone listing could not be located.
