Ohio amphitheater security personnel takes diabetic’s food

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio (AP) — An outdoor concert venue in Ohio has apologized to a diabetic patron whose two small packs of peanut butter crackers were seized by security.

Janice Andrus, 42, complained her health and safety were put at risk by the incident Aug. 6 at Blossom Music Center here. Andrus says she had the food in case her blood sugar dropped while chaperoning teenagers, including her daughter, to see rapper Lil Wayne.

Andrus says the guard told her she’d have to buy food inside.

Blossom boss Ron Tynan says the worker has been reprimanded for using poor judgment and not following the amphitheater’s policies. Tynan says concertgoers may bring in limited amounts of food.

Andrus has been invited to see a future show for free.
