Texas team unbeaten in Little League World Series

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Travis Daves and Wyatt Willis each hit two-run homers to lead San Antonio, Texas past Chula Vista, Calif., 6-3 on Tuesday night at the Little League World Series.

Texas stayed undefeated and will play Staten Island, N.Y., in one U.S. semifinal tonight, while California gets Warner Robins, Ga., in the other semifinal Thursday night.

Daves’ homer followed a two-run triple by Drew Brooks to put Texas up 4-2.

California got a run back in the fourth before Willis’ shot to straightaway center gave Texas a three-run cushion. The 13-year-old outfielder stomped on third base in delight before getting high-fives from teammates at the plate.

Kiki Garcia’s two-run homer in the first had given California a 2-0 lead.

Peabody, Mass., 12, Russellville, Ky., 3.

Austin Batchelor homered and scored three runs, and Peabody, Mass., used a nine-run third inning Tuesday to pull away from Russellville, Ky.

Batchelor also doubled and had two RBIs, including one in a third inning in which Massachusetts smacked seven hits and sent 12 batters to the plate.

On the mound, Batchelor struck out seven and allowed five hits over five innings for the win.

Traverse Briana added two hits and scored two runs for Massachusetts.

Winless Kentucky had its only lead of the game after Ian Woodall’s RBI single drove in Matt Harper in the first.

Vancouver 14, Ramstein AFB, Germany 13

Katie Reyes’ two-run single helped Vancouver, rally after blowing an eight-run lead.

Chris Holba and Matt Zembraski went deep during an 11-run fifth that put Germany.

Canada rallied in the sixth, when Anthony Cusati hit his second homer of the game, a two-run shot that got Canada within 13-12. After loading the bases, Reyes drove in the winning runs.

She finished with three hits and three RBIs.

Dhahran, Saudi Arabia 5, Maracaibo, Venezuela 3

Dhahran scored five runs on just one hit during a sloppy first inning by Maracaibo.

Reliever John Sheppard held Venezuela hitless the last three innings as Saudi Arabia won its first game.

Reynosa, Mexico 3, Taoyuan, Taiwan 2

Marcelo Martinez struck out 12, and Reynosa stayed undefeated.

Mexico will face Japan in an international semifinal game today, while Taiwan gets Curacao in the other semifinal Thursday.

Mexico hit three solo homers.
