A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 19

Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 170 led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Youngstown woman wanted by Alliance authorities on a warrant charging her with contempt of court.

Theft: A commercial tractor and a 5-by-8-foot utility trailer were stolen from a Center Road business.

Theft: A compact-disc player was removed from a car in the 6600 block of Katahdin Drive.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 20

Menacing: A worker with a Tiffany Boulevard eatery received a threatening text message while at work.

Identity theft: A Wingate Road woman discovered her personal information had been fraudulently used to apply for a $5,000 student loan.

Theft: Three pieces of jewelry totaling $4,485 were removed from a Southern Park Mall store.

Theft/menacing: A woman in her 20s stole bags and napkins from a Boardman-Poland Road store, threatened to punch an employee who confronted her, and fled.

Misuse of a credit card: A Boardman woman’s stolen debit card was used to make $201 worth of unauthorized charges at various locations.

Misuse of a credit card: A city woman reported her automated-teller-machine card stolen and used to fraudulently withdraw $500 from her account at a Boardman credit union.

Forgery: A teller with a Market Street bank told authorities a man in the drive-through filled out and tried to cash a stolen check.

Robbery: An employee with Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road, reported two women stole four pairs of pants and that one of the women, when confronted, jabbed her finger near the worker’s right eye before both fled.

Misuse of a credit card: An Afton Avenue woman reported paying a small sum regarding an online business opportunity, but discovering $178 worth of additional and unauthorized fees to her credit card.

Menacing: A township man reported having been threatened with bodily harm while at a Runnemede Drive residence.

Felonious assault: A Campbell man alleged his former girlfriend deliberately ran him off the road near U. S. Route 224, causing the man to crash his motorcycle and suffer injuries to his head, neck and left arm.

Aug. 21

Theft: An $80 pair of metallic sunglasses, a carrying bag and an adaptor were stolen from a vehicle in the 600 block of Forestridge Drive.

Theft: The owner of a piece of rental property in the 5100 block of Firnley Avenue reported a former tenant stole trim and baseboards.

Assault: A woman in the 1800 block of Halbert Drive reported having been the victim of an assault and dog bite. She had marks on both thighs.

Aug. 22

Domestic violence: Police charged a 46-year-old man with domestic violence at his Aravesta Avenue home after a woman said that during an argument he tackled and choked her from behind. The woman was not seriously hurt.

Burglary: To a garage in the 800 block of Mapleridge Drive, where four drills, a circular saw, a wrench set and a socket set were taken.

Domestic violence: Police signed a charge of domestic violence (threats) on behalf of a Boardman woman, who alleged a man had threatened to shoot her in the head. The man became angry because she had filed a report of phone harassment against him, a report said.

Arrest: A 24-year-old Campbell man was picked up in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road. He was wanted on a probation-violation count.

Drugs: A Youngstown man, 21, faced charges of possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia as police investigated a break-in and vandalism to a swimming pool on Teakwood Drive. Evidence led authorities to the man’s residence, where they conducted a welfare check and found a bag of suspected cocaine and a digital scale commonly used for narcotics trafficking, though the man was not charged in the break-in, a report showed.

Burglary: To an Erie Street residence via a rear door. Among the items taken were an Xbox game system, a Wii system and a digital camera.

Theft: A man and a woman in their 20s stole roughly $1,000 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A global-positioning system unit, a radar detector and two lighters were taken from a vehicle in the 500 block of Oakridge Drive.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a U.S. Route 224 pizza restaurant alleged that a co-worker, through a third party, made threats against her.

Theft: Police apprehended two Niles boys, 16 and 17, and a Warren boy, 17, after $1,079 worth of clothing had been stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall. One of the teens was charged with robbery, accused of fighting with store personnel; the other two faced felony theft charges.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of a $300 pair of sunglasses while at a Doral Drive store.

Theft: A man in his 30s with a thin beard and light-blue shirt and shorts grabbed an undisclosed amount of jewelry and fled Jewels & More in the Southern Park Mall.

Aug. 23

Vandalism: A Huntington Drive woman told police a neighbor cut down three of her trees without permission.

Assault: A Poland boy riding his bicycle in the 1800 block of Canavan Drive told officers someone got out of a vehicle, punched him five times and placed the teen in a head lock. He was not seriously injured.

Attempted auto theft: Someone tried to steal a 1991 Buick LeSabre in the 4600 block of Yarmouth Lane.

Theft: A woman’s MP3 player was stolen while she was at a Marwood Circle business.

Misuse of a credit card: A South Avenue man found out his debit card had been used without permission to make a $13 online purchase.

Arrest: A Warren man, 57, was charged with sexual imposition, a third-degree misdemeanor, after a July incident in which a woman reported having been touched inappropriately while at a township movie theater. He was booked at the county jail.

Theft: A $400 refrigerator was stolen from a vacant apartment in the 60 block of Shields Road.

Theft by deception: An Austintown man told police he was tricked out of $1,330 as part of a fraudulent rental agreement concerning a Claybourne Avenue residence that a neighbor later told him was in foreclosure.

Arrest: Officers responded to a dispute in the 1800 block of Basil Drive, where they charged a 30-year-old Poland woman with disorderly conduct. The intoxicated woman refused to leave and cooperate with police, a report said.

Attempted theft: An employee of a West Boulevard business reported a co-worker likely entered the accuser’s vehicle looking for a pair of missing sunglasses.

Theft: Police arrested a Struthers man, 24, on a theft warrant in the 600 block of East Midlothian Boulevard.
