Ga. man faces charges in Pa. teen’s sexting case

TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. (AP) — A Georgia man has been arraigned on charges he solicited a 14-year-old northeastern Pennsylvania girl after seeing photos of her on the Internet.

Scott P. Swanson, 52, of Hiawassee, Ga., is in the Wyoming County Correctional Facility on $1 million bail after Monday’s arraignment. He faces five counts of criminal solicitation and one count of corruption of minors.

Swanson was arrested in April. Authorities say Swanson had photos of the girl and admitted to investigators that he contacted her.

The girl is a student at Tunkhannock Area Middle School. Wyoming County District Attorney George Skumanick threatened 20 teens in the district with child pornography charges last year after school officials confiscated cell phones containing racy photos of teenage girls.

Swanson also faces federal child pornography charges.
