Bond set at $1 million for Ohio mom charged with killing her child

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — A judge has set bond at $1 million for a southwest Ohio woman accused of killing her 5-week-old son.

Police arrested 25-year-old Asuncion Avila-Villa on Tuesday after finding the baby’s body in a garbage can in an alley behind her home.

The Butler County coroner says the baby had a crushed skull and broken arm and had been dead for two days.

Avila-Villa called 911 Monday and said the baby had been taken Sunday by his father, a former boyfriend. Police say the father was not involved.

The court will appoint a lawyer for Avila-Villa, who was jailed on charges of murder, endangering children, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
