Rotary Club briefed on purpose of NAMI


AUSTINTOWN — The guest speaker at the Aug. 17 meeting of the Rotary Club of Austintown was David Crawford, NAMI volunteer.

Crawford explained the purpose of NAMI is to improve the quality of life, ensure dignity and respect for citizens of Mahoning Valley who have a mental illness, and to provide support for their families.

Crawford said education and support make qualitative differences in outcomes, but treatment works. With appropriate treatment and services, people can and do recover.
