Police charge Hamilton, Ohio, mother with murder
HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — Police have arrested a southwest Ohio woman on murder charges after the infant son she reported taken was found dead in a plastic bag in a garbage can.
Authorities say the 5-week-old boy was in an alley behind the woman’s home in Hamilton. Butler County Coroner Dr. Richard Burkhardt said today the baby had a crushed skull and broken arm, and had been dead for two days.
The woman was identified as 25-year-old Asuncion Avila-Villa. She called 911 Monday and said the boy had been taken Sunday by his father, a former boyfriend. Police say the father wasn’t involved.
The woman was jailed on charges of murder, endangering children, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
