Vexfest 6 gets off to cloudy but rocking start
By Harold Gwin
YOUNGSTOWN — Several hundred people braved the dark, rolling clouds and threat of rain to spend time on the grounds of Vexfest 6 at mid-afternoon.
The annual downtown rock music festival featured dueling bands on stages facing each other about 100 yards apart at Federal Street and Wick Avenue and Phelps Street at Federal.
The early crowd was mostly young people, including even a few of the grade-school variety who came with parents or older siblings to hear the music.
The event, which began at noon, runs until 2.am. Monday.
In addition to the outside venues, there are indoor performances all day at Barley’s and Downtown 36 in the same one-block location.
