Survivorship day planned

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital and the TMH Foundation, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, will sponsor the 20th annual Cancer Survivorship Day on Sept. 13.

There are 11 million cancer survivors living in the United States, and that number is expected to grow to 20 million survivors by 2020 thanks to improved cancer detection and treatment methods, according to a Forum Health release.

This year’s event will feature a butterfly release, jazz music and a presentation by Nancy Tamburo, a noted social worker with Ireland Cancer Center University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Cancer Survivorship Day is free and open to the public. Survivors, family members and friends are encouraged to make plans to attend.

The event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lincoln School, 2253 Atlantic St. N.E.

The TMH Foundation raises money to support Trumbull Memorial Hospital’s mission to provide top-quality health care to the people of Trumbull County.

Funds are used to provide the hospital with the latest, most advanced medical equipment and to defray the cost of treating the area’s uninsured or underinsured patients.
