Wilson named Eagle Scout

Richard Wilson, a member of Boy Scout Troop 22, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouting’s highest honor.

Troop 22 is chartered by St. Christine Church, Youngstown. Scoutmaster is Matt Sweely. Richard is the son of Rich and Angie Wilson of Canfield.

He has earned 27 merit badges and has served as patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, den chief and scribe. He also earned his 5-year Pipestone Award and his religious emblem.

For his Eagle Scout service project, he worked with Joyce Gottran, park supervisor of Austintown Township Park, in a landscaping project completed in May 2008. He acquired the needed funding for his project through donations and led his troop in completing the job.

Richard attends Austintown Fitch High School honor classes and will graduate in 2010. He is a member of the high school bowling team and bowls in a league at Boardman Lanes. He plans to attend college to study engineering.
