Salt can work wonders. A few ideas:

Remove stains from coffeepots with 4 teaspoons salt, 1 cup crushed ice and 1 tablespoon water. Swirl and rinse.

Restore shine in glass vases with a vinegar and salt paste. Scrub and rinse.

Pour salt on egg spills (wipe with a paper towel) or on cotton fabric wine stains (let salt absorb liquid, soak item in cold water for a half hour and wash).

Cut an orange in half, remove pulp and fill peel with salt to freshen air.
