Event for cancer survivors

WARREN — Trumbull Memorial Hospital and The TMH Foundation, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, will sponsor the 20th annual Cancer Survivorship Day on Sept. 13.

There are 11 million cancer survivors living in the United States, and that number is expected to grow to 20 million survivors by 2020 as a result of improved cancer detection and treatment methods. Cancer Survivorship Day is a day to celebrate this success in the ongoing battle against cancer.

This year’s event, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lincoln School, 2253 Atlantic St. N.E., features a butterfly release, jazz music and a presentation by Nancy Tamburo, a noted social worker with Ireland Cancer Center University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Cancer Survivorship Day is free and open to the public. Survivors, family and friends are encouraged to make plans to attend.
