Celebrations mark 50th anniversary for the Pallantes

CANFIELD — Dr. and Mrs. Martin D. Pallante of Canfield and Naples, Fla., will celebrate 50 years of marriage during a Mass of Thanksgiving at noon Aug. 30 at St. Christine Church.

They were married Aug. 29, 1959, at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.

The Pallantes began their anniversary celebration in early August with a trip to Las Vegas, Yosemite National Park and the California wine country.

They were also honored at dinner party Aug. 15 at the Youngstown Club. Hosts for the event were their children John (Fran) Pallante, Maureen (Locke) Kepley and William (Judith) Pallante, all of Canfield; and Dr. Martin (Dr. Elizabeth) Pallante of Muskegon, Mich., and their families. Their grandchildren are Danielle and Sean Pallante; Anthony, Lauren and Rachel Kepley; Jack and Luke Pallante; and Elizabeth, Kathleen and Stephen Pallante.

Mrs. Pallante, the former Sally Catherine Murphy, was the founder and first co-director of Mahoning Valley Ulster Project, founder of the Irish American Archival Society and the Gathering of the Irish Clans, and coordinator of the Juniors Division of the LAOH. She was the lead author of “The Irish in Youngstown and Mahoning Valley,” was the 1988 YWCA Religious Woman of the Year and the 1999 LAOH Irish Woman of the Year. She is a charter member of Ursuline High School Wall of Fame.

Dr. Pallante, the retired president of Roehlen Industries and the creator of Dynamic Balanced Scorecard Management System, is a strategic planning and management specialist and chairman of Pallante Management Consulting. He is a founding member of the Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the United States and Ursuline High School Athletic Hall of Fame. An adjunct professor of communications and international marketing at Youngstown State University, Dr. Pallante served as chairman of the board of the Albert Schweitzer’s Leadership for Life and Data Technology Corp. and was a member of the president’s advisory board of Hodges University.

The couple are Notre Dame fans and members of the university’s Sorin Society and Badin Guild.

Their anniversary celebrations will conclude with a trip to the 2010 Master’s Golf Tournament in Augusta, Ga., a gift from their children and grandchildren.
