Scrappers rally for 6-3 win over HV

FISHKILL, N.Y. — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers rallied from a 3-0 deficit Thursday to pin a 6-3 defeat on the Hudson Valley Renegades.

Jason Kipnis’ three hits included two doubles to spark the Scrappers’ offense.

The Scrappers (38-21) remain atop the Pinckney Division standings, with Williamsport five games back.

The Scrappers struggled a bit against Renegades starter Kyle Lobstein, who struck out 10 and walked one in his five innings.

Trailing 3-0 in the fourth inning, Chun Chen’s double helped the Scrappers tie the game.

Kipnis’ seventh-inning double and Casey Frawley’s base hit broke the tie. The Scrappers added two insurance runs in the ninth inning triggered by Kipnis’ RBI double.
