Last year’s winner was Jordyn, a 10-year-old from Lebanon, Pa., who created a Po’ Boy Peanut Butter Chicken Cheesesteak. Her sandwich was a spin on a cheesesteak, made with chicken, peppers, onions and mozzarella cheese, with a sauce made up of Jif peanut butter, Worcestershire sauce, honey and honey mustard.
polishing up
Kitson. It’s where people bought their “Team Aniston” and “Mrs. Federline” T-shirts; it’s where celebs are often stalked by paparazzi on their high-profile shopping trips. Now, the boutique has its own line of nail polish. The polishes, which come in 10 different shades, feature what’s hot for fall in nail polishes: matte finishes and bright colors. Our favorites include the purple, Barbie-style hot pink and dark blueish black. Each are $10 at ShopKitson.co
newest pumpkin
Drum roll, please. The Smashing Pumpkins have a new member of the band.
The band posted on its Web site that 19-year-old Mike Byrne of Portland was chosen from the more than 1,000 drummers who responded to the group’s open call to replace Jimmy Chamberlin.
Frontman Billy Corgan says Byrne has “that X-factor that all the great drummers have, a stunning blend of power, speed, and grace.”
Byrne, who started the drums at 11, will play on the Grammy-winning alternative rock band’s next album and go on tour. He saw the Pumpkins when they toured Portland two years ago and says the opportunity he’s been given is a dream come true.
