3 teens arrested in Boardman
Staff Report
BOARDMAN — A call from a neighbor, a foot chase and police visits to two township homes resulted in the arrests of an adult and a juvenile on receiving stolen property charges and another juvenile on drug charges.
About 4:30 a.m. Thursday, a Forest Ridge Drive woman saw a figure in her neighbor’s driveway and the dome light on in one of their vehicles. One of the figures then came to her driveway, looking into the woman’s car using a flashlight, said Detective Glenn Patton.
The woman let her dogs out, and the two people fled. She called police.
Officers found Joshua Humphrey, 18, and arrested him.
They went to the Terrace Drive home of Humphrey’s parents to see if the parents might know with whom their son had been.
The parents told police that Humphrey wasn’t living on Terrace but instead stayed at a home on Mathews Road. Police went to that home and, with consent of the homeowner, conducted a search, Patton said.
They found one 17-year-old with a case of beer, scales and marijuana pipes. That teen was charged with underage possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
They found another 17-year-old also in the home with Global Positioning Systems and wallets that had been reported stolen. That teen’s backpack contained additional GPS devices and electronic equipment matching what had been reported taken from vehicles throughout the township during the last month.
Humphrey and the second 17-year-old were each charged with receiving stolen property, possession of criminal tools, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
Humphrey was taken to the Mahoning County jail, and the second 17-year-old was taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
