Phantoms host cheer team auditions

YOUNGSTOWN – The Youngstown Phantoms, a hockey team in the United States Hockey League, are looking for a few good hockey fans to be part of their promotional spirit team for the 2009-2010 USHL season.

Interviews will be conducted Tue., Sept. 1 from 5-7 p.m. at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown. Please contact Director of Community Relations Kelly Carroll at 330.747.7825 for further information.

Candidates for the Phantoms promotional spirit team should be passionate and enthusiastic as they will be acting as ambassadors for the team, both at home games and around the community. Apply only if you have high availability during Phantoms home games (schedule runs October through early April, not including possible playoff games) and are able to work scheduled promotions, appearances and community events throughout the year.

During games, members of the team will be responsible for greeting fans, performing cheers, assisting with on-ice and seating area promotions and, most importantly, ensuring Phantoms fans have an outstanding experience at the Covelli Centre.

Other duties include: assisting with promotional giveaways and gate giveaways, selecting participants for on-ice events, participating in on-ice events, throwing/distributing T-shirts, helping fans with general questions/concerns and energizing the crowd through cheers and promotions.

Promo team members will be compensated on a per game basis, and will receive two tickets to each game they work.

Candidates are required to be 18 years of age or older and high school graduates. Prior promotional experience is preferred but not necessary and ice skating skills are a definite plus. Both men and women are encouraged to apply.

The Phantoms request that each prospective promotional spirit team member bring a résumé and headshot picture to the interview.
