Fingerhut hospitalized after bike fall

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio’s top higher education overseer has been injured falling off his bicycle.

A spokesman says Eric Fingerhut, the Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor, suffered a mild concusssion in an accident Tuesday morning while riding on a bike path in the Columbus area. The 50-year-old Fingerhut was hospitalized in fair condition.

Board of Regents spokesman Michael Chaney says Fingerhut had some tests and was fine, but doctors decided to admit him overnight for observation. He was still in the hospital early this afternoon.

Fingerhut is a former Democratic congressman from the Cleveland area. He was appointed to the job of higher education chancellor in March 2007.
