Gutierrez wants review of criminal charges

COLUMBUS (AP) — A top aide to former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann is seeking a hearing on fraud allegations against his business that could extend beyond the start of his criminal trial.

It’s unclear whether the hearing request by Anthony Gutierrez could interfere with trial proceedings, which are scheduled to begin Monday.

A message was left with Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien.

A spokeswoman for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation said Gutierrez made the request July 29 on behalf of Youngstown-based MTV Construction, a business now owned by his wife.

Under Ohio law, Gutierrez is entitled to a hearing and it must take place within 60 days. A date has not yet been set.

Gutierrez was the central figure in a pair of sexual harassment complaints by two female employees of Dann’s office that ultimately resulted in Dann’s resignation in 2008.
