Woman charged in aggravated robbery

YOUNGSTOWN — A 30-year-old Austintown woman was charged with aggravated robbery early Sunday after she told police she drove a man to several places Saturday afternoon, including a garage on Wilson Avenue where an armed robbery took place.

Police spotted a car on Mount Vernon Avenue at 8:40 a.m. Sunday matching the description of the car used in the Wilson Avenue robbery and talked to the owner of the car, who matched the description of the driver of the car used in the robbery.

Police identified the woman as Amy Evans, 30, of South Raccoon Road, who told them she picked up a 27-year-old man Saturday and took him several places, including a shop on Wilson Avenue. Police said the woman didn’t say whether she was aware that a robbery took place.

Police said the robbery occurred at 3:16 p.m. in the 1900 block of Wilson Avenue, where a man working in a garage was approached by a man, who asked him for change for a $20.

The victim took out his wallet containing $43 and handed the other man two $10 bills, but the assailant said to just give him all the money or he would shoot him. The robber motioned to his waistband as if he had a handgun, the victim said.

The robber got into a vehicle with a blond woman behind the wheel, the victim said.
