Sweet’s challenge to YSU: Look ahead
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University President David C. Sweet has challenged the university community to look ahead to the next decade, not just focus on the accomplishments of the past 10 years.
Sweet, who is retiring in June 2010, gave his final State of the University address this morning in Kilcawley Center, outlining some of the challenges that lie ahead.
Increasing the number of doctoral programs, developing four campus Centers of Excellence, building a new home for the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and making YSU a destination university for students along the Tech Belt between Pittsburgh and Cleveland are just a few of them, he said.
