NORTH JACKSON — Alumni for the Jackson-Milton Local School District are invited to attend a reunion and welcome the latest addition to the academic family — a new junior and senior high school building.

The district will host three events next month. The first is a tailgate party from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 4 at the football field before the game against Rootstown. The other two events will be the next day and will include a final walk-through of the 96-year-old junior and senior high school building from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an adult-only social from 7-9 p.m. at the old building. Horse show scheduled

CANFIELD — The Northern Ohio Quarter Horse Futurity Show, an American Quarter-Horse-approved show, will take place Sept. 26-27 at the Canfield Fairgrounds.

American Quarter Horse shows test horses’ abilities in dozens of classes and feature such events as jumping, reining, barrel racing, cutting, roping and pole bending. Also, halter classes that judge American Quarter Horses based on balance, muscling and breed characteristics take place.

Those who exhibit earn points that turn to awards or cash at the end of the year, and they can qualify for an AQHA World Champion Show, the premiere events in the equine industry. Car show in Columbiana

COLUMBIANA — A car show has been scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Pizza Hut as a benefit for Joey Pritchard, the 18-year-old biker who was injured June 22 on state Route 170 in Negley. There will be door prizes, a 50-50 drawing, and a Chinese auction with the drawing at 4:30. Trophies will be awarded. The entry fee is $5 for cars. Valley dahlia show

YOUNGSTOWN — Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park will be the setting for the annual Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society show Saturday and Sunday on the lower level of the Davis Center. Dahlias will be displayed by growers from the tri-state area. After judging by local accredited judges, there will be open viewing from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Visitors will also have an opportunity to tour the dahlia trial garden in the park.
