Liberty sub shop has specials this week to welcome Wal-Mart

LIBERTY — Charley’s Grilled Subs, 3219 Belmont Ave., has planned a “welcome to Wal-Mart” celebration this week with free samples of products and visits from “Flip,” Charley’s mascot.

Wal-Mart opens to the public at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Charley’s will distribute ice cream samples Wednesday, Philly cheesecake samples Thursday; strawberry lemonade samples Friday; and California chicken samples on Saturday. Charley’s will be closed Sunday for family day.

Charley’s owner Chris Smallwood planned the celebration to honor Wal-Mart and the increased traffic its opening will bring to the area.

Smallwood, a former autoworker with Chrysler in Twinsburg, turned the former Burger King into one of Charley’s newest franchise locations.
