Terlesky places 3rd at N.C. event


BOARDMAN — Junior golfer Brian Terlesky has enjoyed another busy summer.

The 9-year-old who will be Boardman Stadium Drive fourth grader, finished in third place in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championships at Pinehurst, N.C.

Terlesky, the son of Brian and Christine (Moschella) Terlesky, was one of more than 1,200 junior golfers competing in the event that included golfers from 32 foreign countries. There were 147 golfers in the 9-year-old division.

Terlesky played on the No. 8 course at Pinehurst (4,694 yards). He had rounds of 77, 70 and 71 over the 54-hole event for a 218 total (two over par).

In all, Terlesky captured 16 tournament championships this summer.

His last six victories included the U.S. Kids Junior event at Massillon where he shot 34 to win. He followed that with a win at the Independent Insurance Agents event at The Lake Club in Poland where he shot 37.

He won the Spitale Junior event at Canton’s Seven Hills in the 12-under division shooting a 35 and won the U.S. Kids event in Doyletown with a score of 35.

In the First Tee Junior event at Salem Hills Country Club, he teamed with Jared Wilson to win the 9-10 Division two-man scramble with a 36, while he also captured the Tam O’Shanter Junior Open in Hermitage, Pa., by shooting 39 to win the 9-10 age group.
