New Castle theater to stage ‘All My Sons’

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Arthur Miller’s drama “All My Sons,” directed by J.E. Ballantyne Jr., will open Friday at the Annex Theatre of New Castle Playhouse, 212 E. Long Ave.

The show will run for nine performances for three consecutive weekends. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.

Opening night will feature a free wine and cheese party for all ticket holders beginning at 6 p.m., with the NCP Mini-Stars performing.

For reservations, call the box office at (724) 654-3437. All tickets are $10.

“All My Sons” looks at the dark side of the American Dream.

Miller took his inspiration from a true story about a successful businessman who knowingly sold the government defective airplane parts during World War II with tragic consequences. The truth comes out and his life unravels when his son marries his business partner’s daughter.

Winslow’s Cafe will reopen in September

YOUNGSTOWN — Winslow’s Cafe at the Butler Institute of American Art is getting a change in management.

The cafe closed Friday and will reopen in early September, after remodeling has been completed, according to Kathy Earnhardt of the museum.

When it reopens, Winslow’s will offer a new menu, expanded services and “amenities that will make a visit to the Butler that much more special,” said Butler Director Louis Zona.

Winslow’s, which opened in 2003, had been operated by Thymely Events Inc., whose contract was not renewed.

Zona delayed comment on revealing the new management team.
