Justice Department interviews Ohio workers

LORAIN, Ohio (AP) — U.S. Department of Justice investigators probing possible use of force violations by Lorain police will interview the mayor and police chief soon.

Investigators are scheduled to speak with Police Chief Cel Rivera, Mayor Anthony Krasienko, Safety Director Phil Dore and 12 officers.

The Justice Department told the city late last year it was investigating potential violations involving the police department’s use of force.

Krasienko has said the probe, which stems from a complaint, is a civil investigation not involving criminal allegations.

Justice Department officials have reviewed use-of-force complaints, search warrants and reports on the use of the department’s police dogs.
