Several Trumbull Christian churches taking part in Operation Inasmuch

WARREN — For the second consecutive year, members of Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St., will reach out to the Warren community through its Operation Inasmuch program.

The program on Saturday includes Champion Christian, Niles First Christian, Bolindale Christian and Girard First Christian churches.

Each church will work within its community on Saturday; Girard First Christian will combine with Central Christian.

The program is based on the Scriptures in Mathew 25:45, “... inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”

Greater Warren residents will benefit from Central Christian’s mission program. More than 70 members of Central Christian will begin the program at 7:30 a.m. with a worship service at the church.

Church members will start community projects at 8 a.m. and work until noon. Everything is free.

Church members will conduct car checks at the Auto Zone location on Elm Road.

Blood pressure checks will be performed at Sam’s Club in Niles and the Giant Eagle on Elm Road. Free yard work, nursing-home visitation and painting projects will take place in the community.

The sewing circle will make lap robes at the church, where members of the Central Christian youth group will distribute school supplies to children who are accompanied by an adult.

At Champion Christian Church, 151 Center St. West, some 125 volunteers are ready to serve the community. An automobile check will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon in the Champion Insurance parking lot, 4741 Mahoning Ave. N.W. A r sum and interview workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the church.

Champion residents also will benefit from the work of other projects including yard work, painting of the Champion ball field fences, card making for soldiers, acts of kindness, cookie baking and delivery to public servants and Mobile Meals, nursing-home visitation and school supplies given to identified families.

First Christian Church, 33 Arlington Ave., Niles, will distribute water to Eastwood Mall walkers and on Greenway Biketrail.

They will be do free blood-pressure checks at Niles Giant Eagle pharmacy. Members also are tying blankets and rice bags to be distributed to senior citizens and will have an outdoor cleanup at Southview Manor group home in Niles.

Bolindale Christian Church, 2749 Fairview Ave. S.E., Howland Township, will paint a shed and do general cleanup at Bolindale Park in Howland Township. They also will do edging and weeding in the park and in the neighborhood.

Lordstown Christian Church, 6370 Tod Ave. S.W., will deconstruct a wheelchair ramp and replace it with three steps and a handrail. Members will do yard work and landscaping at homes.

The Rev. Caroline Bloomfield of Central Christian served on the planning committee with Donna Beatty and elders Ken Conklin and James F. Shively.

Operation Inasmuch began in 1995 at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C. There are now more than 36 churches in Fayetteville coordinating efforts for the twice-a-year project.
