A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Aug. 10

Criminal damaging: A South Market Street man complained of rocks damaging his residence. A hole and a crack were in a portion of his vinyl siding, police said.

Assault: A Navajo Drive man alleged a neighbor struck him twice in the arm and back with a large stick after he confronted the neighbor about shooting a .22-caliber firearm in a nearby wooded area. The man said he felt threatened by the accuser.

Vandalism: Officers responded to two incidents near Highland and Wilson avenues in which $20,000 worth of damage had been done to a concession stand, including to its electrical panel. Also, a construction worker reported damage to materials and a trailer.

Vandalism: Someone damaged windows to a locker room at Girard High School, 31 N. Ward Ave.

Felonious assault: A man checked himself into Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital after reporting he had been shot twice while riding a motorcycle near state Route 711 and Gypsy Lane. One bullet grazed his right side, the other lodged in his elbow, a report showed.

Drugs/endangerment: Police investigated a report of a 3-year-old boy found alone near South Market and West Second streets. The boy gave his phone number, and officers said they found suspected drug paraphernalia and a bag with roughly 3 grams of suspected marijuana at the residence, where the homeowner was given a summons.

Aug. 12

Theft: A Hancock Street woman alleged her son stole $50 from her purse.

Stolen property: An East Kline Street man detained three juveniles charged with receiving stolen property after authorities said they found a compact-disc case and other items thought to have been taken from vehicles. The teens were released to the custody of their guardians.

Theft: Police chased a suspicious man, who dropped a CD player that had likely been stolen from a car, on foot near U.S. Route 422 .

Burglary: To a Broadview Avenue home at which a 26-inch flat-screen TV was missing.

HUBBARD

Aug. 8

Theft: A bicycle was stolen from a home in the 30 block of Mackey Street.

Aug. 9

Arrest: The Girard Municipal Court issued felony warrants against a township man, charging him with identity fraud, forgery and receiving stolen property.

Aug. 10

Theft: A Wheeler Street man reported the theft of ladders and other property.

Criminal mischief: Someone intentionally drove a golf cart onto property belonging to an East Liberty Street business.

Fraud: A report of credit-card fraud was made from a Parish Avenue residence.

LIBERTY

Aug. 9

Criminal damaging: Someone tore a wooden shudder and tossed lawn chairs into a swimming pool at Logan Swim Club Inc., 3245 Logan Way.

Counterfeit: A Youngstown woman inadvertently passed a fake $10 bill at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave. She was not charged with any wrongdoing, however.

Assault: A township man, 35, was charged with aggravated assault after police responded to a fight at a North Gate Road home, where a woman alleged the man had slapped her in the face and struck her in the head with a metal pan during an argument. He also was wanted on a warrant.

Aug. 10

Theft: Prescription medications were removed from a vehicle on Belmont Avenue.

Felonious assault: A 41-year-old Snellville, Ga., man was arrested at Forum Health Northside Medical Center on charges of felonious assault and endangering a child after he was accused of hitting the 2-year-old child in the head as part of an effort to discipline the youngster. The child had a seizure, then arrived unresponsive and was later flown to another hospital after a caseworker with Children Services Board was notified, a report said.

Criminal damaging: Someone kicked and caused $50 worth of damage to a railing at a Motor Inn Drive motel.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Gypsy Lane led to the arrest of a Warren woman, 22, on a charge of possession of drug-abuse instruments when, police said, a hypodermic needle and empty heroin bindles were found. A 23-year-old man, also of Warren, was taken into custody on a warrant.

Counterfeit: A woman passed a fake $10 bill at Giant Eagle and later said she had received the currency as change while being unaware it was phony.

Aug. 11

Arrest: A city man, 24, was picked up at a Parkwood Drive residence. He was wanted on a warrant from Niles.

Theft: Up to 200 gas-well meter cases valued at a total of $1,600 were stolen in and near a fenced-in area off Shannon Road.

Theft: Officers responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Pleasant Valley Road that had been ransacked and learned that an estimated $23,302 worth of property, including a bathtub, kitchen cabinets, two bathroom vanities and cleaning supplies, were stolen.

Burglary: A Northview Boulevard woman called police after seeing a man in a dark, hooded shirt in her home, who later fled on foot. A $1,000, 32-inch TV was missing.
