A decline in robberies

WARREN — A detective says he believes the arrest of a 19-year-old city man last week brought incidence of armed robbery in the city down from the high levels recorded in July.

Shedrick D. Brogdon, 19, of Fifth Street Southwest, was indicted Friday on two counts of aggravated robbery and one of aggravated burglary. He was ordered held in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

He was accused of participating in armed robberies that occurred on two consecutive nights that fit a similar pattern: at the Red and White Store on West Market Street on July 27 and at Ianazone’s Pizza on Southern Boulevard on July 28. In both cases, young men entered the business, some of them with guns, and took cash.

Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole said no robberies fitting that description have occurred since Brogdon was arrested early last week.

Detectives are continuing to investigate to determine the identities of the other young men involved, Cole said.
