Wilson backs Fisher for Senate
U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson, who represents all of Columbiana County and a portion of Mahoning County in the U.S. House, is endorsing Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher’s bid for the Senate.
“Lee Fisher has been there for the people in my district during these tough economic times, no matter how small the project,” said Wilson of St. Clairsville, D-6th. “Lee has led economic development efforts throughout Appalachia, and I know he will wake up every day as our next senator focused on creating jobs for Ohioans and working to rebuild our economy.”
Fisher has already received the endorsements of U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th; Gov. Ted Strickland, and a number of other prominent Democrats. Fisher is to face Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner in the May 2010 Democratic primary for the Senate seat. Republican George V. Voinovich isn’t seeking re-election next year.
Regarding Wilson’s support, Fisher said: “Congressman Wilson and I have worked together to revitalize the economy of eastern Ohio, and I am grateful for his endorsement.”
