Free concert on Mercer Courthouse lawn


MERCER — Mercer County Jamboree will fill the Mercer County Courthouse Square will music from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

This will mark the 17th year the ensemble has performed a concert as part of the Mercer Summer Music Series. Chuck Thorpe will serve as master of ceremonies. The jamboree will offer a repertoire of bluegrass, country, gospel, patriotic, old-time tunes and novelty songs. Musicians will include Ron Knapp. Pamela Courtney, Paul Jacobson, Jerry Jones and Jim Helmetz. Charlie Griggs will recite some of his original poetry. The Mercer Speech Parents will host an old-fashioned ice cream social throughout the evening and the Mercer Band Boosters will sell popcorn.

In the event of raian, the concert will be at Mercer Area High School, 545 W. Butler St., two blocks from the courthouse.
