A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman Township:

Aug. 6

Burglary: To a Brandon Avenue residence via a side door. Stolen were 70 Vicodin tablets and $29.

Assault: The owner of a Glenwood Avenue business told police an employee about to be terminated grabbed the accuser’s wrist, then punched or shoved her in the chest. She was not hurt.

Theft: A “No trespassing” sign was stolen in the 5000 block of Friendship Avenue.

Theft: Costume jewelry was removed from an apartment in the 500 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Criminal damaging: A letter was scratched into the paint of a vehicle in the 4900 block of Brookwood Road.

Weapon: Someone in a dark sedan fired three shots at a residence in the 400 block of Oakridge Drive, though no one was injured. Police found a .380-caliber casing in the road, a report said.

Assault: A Cook Avenue man said another male punched him in the head with a set of brass knuckles, causing a cut to his chin.

Stolen property: Two Cleveland men faced felony charges of receiving stolen property, accused of having $1,089 worth of stolen clothing from Old Navy Clothing Store, 377 Boardman-Poland Road.

Domestic violence: A township man, 24, was charged after his wife alleged he pushed her into a table, slapped her face and grabbed her arms during an argument.

Burglary: A Willow Drive apartment was entered. Stolen was a 36-inch flat-screen TV.

Assault: An 18-year-old Boardman man was charged after a woman walking on Glenwood Avenue told police someone had tossed water balloons from a moving vehicle, striking her and two other people.

Aug. 7

Arrest: A township man, 50, was charged with violating a civil protection order, accused of having returned to his former wife’s Applecrest Court home and refusing to leave.

Theft: Five teens, ages 16 to 19, were charged in the theft of electronics equipment, DVDs and other items from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive. Three also were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor; one faced an additional charge of possession of criminal tools, accused of using a knife to cut open packages containing various electronics.

Misuse of a credit card: A Leighton Avenue woman checked her bank statement and noticed two charges totaling $912 from Florida that she never made.

Assault: A 30-year-old Warren woman was charged after a fight between two females at a Boardman-Poland Road eatery in which the accuser reported being knocked to the ground and having her head shoved into a wall while in a restroom. The victim complained of head pain, and clumps of her hair had been pulled out, a report showed.

Auto theft: A 1990 Chevrolet Caprice Classic was stolen in the 4000 block of South Avenue.

Assault: A Cook Avenue man complained of shoulder pain after being pushed to the ground during an altercation.

Theft: An in-dash compact-disc player, among other items, was stolen from a car in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Bad check: A woman tried to cash a stolen $225 check at a Market Street bank.

Attempted fraud: An Erie Street woman told officers of receiving a call from someone in Canada claiming to be her grandson and asking her to send $3,400.

Theft: A global positioning system unit and a DVD player were taken from a vehicle in the 300 block of Ridgefield Drive.

Theft: A former employee of the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall was accused of deliberately ringing a gift-card purchase for a customer using the person’s debit card, then improperly applying $80 to her account and keeping the amount for himself.

Theft: Thirty-five medications were stolen from a nurse’s cart at a South Avenue care center.

Assault: A man making a delivery to a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant said two men on mountain bikes tried to head-butt and push him. He displayed a pocketknife before they fled on their bicycles, a report said.

Aug. 8

Arrest: A traffic stop near Rush Boulevard led to the arrest of a Youngstown man, 19, wanted on a warrant charging him with failure to comply with a court-ordered electronic monitoring device.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a U.S. Route 224 gas station told authorities a man in his 30s driving a black Ford Taurus became irate when she refused to accept his $100 bill, then threatened to return and shoot her.

Criminal damaging: A Tamarisk Trail woman’s vehicle was scratched, and damage was done to four or five of her plants and a tree.

Arrest: A Boardman man, 54, was taken into custody after being pulled over. He was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Criminal damaging: Someone smashed a vehicle’s front windshield and driver’s-side window in the 5000 block of Aravesta Avenue.

Theft: Two cordless drills, a digital camera and a key-lock box were removed from a car in the 600 block of Squirrel Hill Drive.

Criminal damaging: Someone scratched a woman’s 24-speed bicycle and flattened one of its tires at a Doral Drive store.

Theft: An MP3 player was stolen from a vehicle in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

Robbery: A 19-year-old Ellwood City, Pa., woman faced charges of robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property after $835 worth of merchandise was stolen from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road. Found in her purse was a stolen .22-caliber handgun with three rounds, a report showed.

Aug. 9

Theft: Two Youngstown males, 15 and 19, faced three counts of theft after vehicles on Lemans Drive had been entered, and police said they found two stolen MP3 players. Other charges included receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools.

Theft: A Melrose Avenue couple said someone went through their vehicle and stole property, including three CDs, an MP3 player, a GPS device and a cell-phone charger.

Menacing: A Trenholm Avenue woman told officers her former boyfriend threatened to come to her home and harm her.

Theft: Five Afton Avenue residents discovered property stolen from their cars, such as cologne, a GPS device, a checkbook, cigarettes and a stereo.
