WARREN — A Vienna man has been sentenced to 90 days in the Trumbull County Jail and ordered to pay $167,986 in restitution to Valley Electrical Consolidated on Tibbets Wick Road in Liberty for stealing from the company while he worked there as chief financial officer.

Brent F. Liller, 41, of Warren-Sharon Road, will also spend five years on probation and have to serve 100 hours of community service.

He received the sentence Monday in the courtroom of Judge Peter Kontos in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Liller pleaded guilty earlier to aggravated theft, a third-degree felony, for creating false payroll accounts and dummy employees in order to steal from Valley Electrical Consolidated and two affiliated companies, Evets Electric Inc. and RexMar Management Services LLC, between December 2006 and June 2008.

Of the restitution, $162,986 will pay back an insurance company, and the other $5,000 will be paid to Valley Electrical to repay its $5,000 deductible, prosecutors said.

Liller could have gotten up to five years in prison.
