Ikea cuts prices

Skimming the latest Ikea catalog is a relief in this economy. This year, the Swedish company is highlighting lower prices on customer favorites.

The 374-page catalog, available this month, includes markdowns on kitchen cabinets, sofas, curtains, cookware, storage boxes and more.

Throughout the coming year, cheaper prices will be rolled out on 4,000 items, says Leontyne Green, Ikea’s U.S. marketing manager. Ikea, which has 37 U.S. stores and a factory in Danville, Va., is streamlining its production and shipping process, Green says, enabling the price cuts.
