Mercer County United Way earns national certificate of excellence

STAFF REPORT

SHARON, Pa. — United Way of Mercer County has earned a certificate of excellence from the United Way of America by successfully completing all of the national membership requirements by their due dates.

The annual certification process includes completing the Membership Requirements Certification, Membership Investment to support the national office, and a survey of Total Resources Generated that captures the full extent of a community’s resource development efforts during the year. Also, United Way of Mercer County will complete a three-year organizational self-assessment in 2009.

“The membership requirements must be certified annually in order for us to remain a member of United Way,” said Jim Micsky, executive director of UWMC.

The certification mandates completion of 13 requirements for United Way membership along with verification of the status of 47 indicators by which a United Way demonstrates the intent of the membership requirements, such as conflict-of-interest policies.
