LEETONIA — Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Exten of Leetonia were the guests of honor at two parties celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
In February, the couple, who make their winter home in Mesa, Ariz., were one of the six couples feted at a party and dance given by their neighborhood friends at the Dollbeer Community Center for couples married 50 years or more. Former Salem resident Perry Hilliard spoke of his long friendship with the couple, and a soloist sang their favorite song, “Twelfth of Never.”
Centennial Park in Salem was the setting on July 11 as they were honored at a party hosted by their daughters and sons-in-law, Chuck and Connie Adams, Harry and Kathy Ewing, and Jim and Debbie King. The Extens have 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Exten retired 18 years ago as a representative of the Cuna Mutual Insurance Co.
Mrs. Exten, a homemaker, worked briefly at Cardinal Frame in Austintown and at the former Fitness Club.
