Driver rescues toddler in street
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (AP) — A driver on her way to work Friday stopped to rescue a 14-month-old boy she found crawling in the middle of a busy street.
Rachel Downey found the child at an intersection in South Euclid in suburban Cleveland about 8:45 a.m.
Downey hit the brakes, jumped out of her car and grabbed the boy. After a brief search, she found the boy’s mother in a nearby house.
Police say the boy apparently wandered out of the house when a door was left open. Police Lt. Jeff Meyers said the case is under investigation and has been referred to county social workers.
