VIENNA — A reminder for those attending the air show: Don’t leave home without your tickets.

Tickets are absolutely necessary to get into the Youngstown Air Reserve Station’s Air Show and Open House, Thunder Over the Valley, today and Sunday.

Also, no one will be permitted to enter any of the designated parking lots, which leads to getting onto the base, without tickets; nor will they be allowed into any lot other than the one designated on their ticket, said Air Force Maj. Ray Gale, event parking coordinator.

Tickets, which identify the parking areas by color, also have instructions on how best to get to the correct lot.

Parking lots open at 8 a.m., and the gates to the air base open at 9 a.m. Buses will begin transporting people to the air base at 8:30 a.m.

Once in their parking areas, show visitors will be screened for items not permitted on base. Also, there will be people in uniform to direct parking and answer questions, and first aid and portable toilets will be available, Gale said.

He recommended that people get to their assigned parking areas as early as possible.

“With more than 40,000 people expected each day of the show, we think it’s possible the parking lots will be full by 11 a.m.,” Gale said.

Headlining the air show are the Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, and the Army’s Golden Knights Parachute Team.

People without tickets, or those with tickets who find their assigned parking areas full, may be able to watch the show from outside the base.

However, they will not be permitted to park along roadsides, officials said.
