Vision screeners needed for preschool program

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries is seeking volunteers to assist with its amblyopia vision screening program.

The trained screeners will go into preschools in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties and screen children to detect amblyhopia, commonly known as lazy eye. Early detection and treatment can correct the eye problem before it is too late.

Volunteer training will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Goodwill facility on Belmont Avenue.

All necessary materials will be provided, and screenings will be scheduled according to the volunteers availability.
