YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Child Support Enforcement Agency is offering its annual Deals for Your Wheels program for those whose driver’s licenses have been suspended for nonpayment of child support. From today through Aug. 31, parents can get their driver’s licenses reinstated by paying just one month’s child support plus $1 and a $25 reinstatement fee. Normally, a three-month minimum payment or verified employment for wage withholding purposes is required. Last August, the Mahoning County program, which is part of the Child Support Awareness Month observance, reinstated 256 driver’s licenses and collected $102,162 in child support. Those wishing to participate should visit CSEA at 345 Oak Hill Ave. between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and ask to speak to a license-suspension case manager.
Mahoning Ave. delays
AUSTINTOWN — Motorists using the Mahoning Avenue bridge over state Route 11 in the township may face some delays. From 1 to 5 a.m. today, the bridge will be reduced to one lane of traffic maintained for bridge reconstruction. Motorists can use Mahoning Avenue to state Route 46 to Norquest Boulevard to avoid the area. This work is part of a $7 million project to re-deck and paint bridges over Route 11 at Mahoning Avenue and Western Reserve, Kirk and New roads.
Car show in Sharon
SHARON, Pa. — The city will host its seventh annual Downtown Sharon Car Cruise on Saturday. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the event starting at 10 a.m. and running until 5 p.m. Roads closed during the event will include State Street from Irvine Avenue to Dock Street, Chestnut Street from East State Street to East Connelly Boulevard, Vine Avenue from East State to Pitt Street, Shenango Avenue from East State to Pitt, Porter Way from West State Street to Water Avenue parking lot and North Main Street from West State to Silver Street.
Mosquito spraying
MINERAL RIDGE — Weathersfield Township will have mosquito spraying on Monday. In case of rain, the spraying will be Tuesday. The spraying is being done by Alexander’s Pest Control of Poland.
Boardman construction
BOARDMAN — Plans call for Oak Knoll Drive to be closed at the Brookwood Road intersection for sewer work, curb improvements and landscaping by Foust Construction Inc., Youngstown. Site planning was done by Western Reserve Land Consultants, Boardman. Planning and construction for the $27,000 job is funded by the Forest Glen Homeowners Association. Work will begin in two weeks.
Howland tickets, passes
HOWLAND — Both season tickets and senior citizen passes for Howland High School activities are available now in the high school activities office. Senior citizen passes for the 2009-10 school year are $10 for any Howland resident older than 65. Season ticket packets are available for those wishing to purchase reserved seats. Beatitude donations
YOUNGSTOWN — Beatitude House charity will accept donations of clothing, school supplies and gift certificates before Monday to help the children served by the charity at its administrative office, 238 Tod Lane, on the grounds of St. Edward Church parish. The charity is accepting new and used school uniforms, shoes, new socks and underwear and gift certificates for uniform and backpack purchase. 15-year prison sentence
PITTSBURGH — Calvin Lee Dye, 37, of Plainsville Warren Road, Southington, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after his conviction of violating federal child-exploitation laws. Federal officials said Dye used a computer with an Internet connection to induce and entice a minor into engaging in illegal sexual conduct and then traveled across a state line to have sex with that minor. Dye will be on 10 years’ parole after his release from prison and pay a $200 special assessment.
