Cornhole tournament in downtown parking lot

YOUNGSTOWN — A cornhole tournament and block party will be Aug. 29 in the parking lot behind The Old Precinct, 32 N. Phelps St., downtown (enter the lot from Commerce Street). Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and play will begin at noon. Contestants must be 18 or older. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

If at least 20 teams enter, each one will play at least five games: three in pool play, followed by a double-elimination tournament. If there are fewer than 20 teams, it will just be a double-elimination tournament.

Cash prizes will go to the top three teams. Registration is $30 per team before Aug. 27, and $40 afterward, including the day of the tournament.

Attendees can bring lawn chairs, and side boards will be open for play. There will also be food and music. For more information or to register, call (330) 717-9556 or e-mail oldprecinct@yahoo.com.
