Local stores raise funds for hospital

BOARDMAN — Local Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores raised $26,968 for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley recently during a six-week Children’s Miracle Network fundraising campaign.

During the campaign, associates of Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club, customers and members were invited to make donations at the register, and additional in-store fundraisers bolstered the efforts.

The retailer’s support for Children’s Miracle Network began in 1987.

Since then more than $460 million has been raised for the hospitals.
