Cleveland Urban League trims staff, cuts CEO job
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Urban League of Cleveland has cut its staff from 20 to six in recent months to survive financially.
The cuts include the CEO position eliminated Friday and held by Johnathan Holifield, a former NFL running back who took the job 18 months ago.
The league’s board of trustees approved the reorganization designed to save the 92-year-old institution.
The organization promoting black financial and social empowerment has a $2.7 million debt and has suffered from declining public and private funding.
